Chef de Partie

Salary: £31,050 - £33,232 per annum depending on experience (inclusive of 4.5% split shift payment)

The catering team at Emmanuel College (known as ‘Emma’) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Chef de Partie. Boasting a Head Chef who has represented the UK as part of National Culinary Team, Emmanuel is renowned for its excellent food. The catering team provides high quality dining and an efficient and professional standard of service to College members and external clients. Food service ranges from high volume cafeteria-style service to fine dining.  Made up of 2 teams of 4 chefs working opposite shift patterns (including split shift working), the team is close-knit and supportive. Workload varies throughout the academic year and during holiday times, when conferences, weddings and special events are hosted. Personal and professional development are a priority, enabling employees to flourish. Participation in various competitive catering events both locally and nationally is encouraged and supported.

  The successful candidate will have a minimum of NVQ level 2 or equivalent in Professional Cookery, a passion for food and cookery, be a great team player and able to demonstrate a working knowledge of food law and allergen information.  This is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week, including some evening and alternate weekends on a rota basis. Conference & Accommodations Coordinator

Full Time (36 hours 40 minutes)

Salary: £27,380 - £30,098 per annum depending on experience

The College is seeking to appoint a Conference and Accommodations Coordinator reporting to and working closely with the Conference Manager. The Conference and Accommodation Offices collaborate to manage a diverse range of internal and external activities within the College. Internally, they coordinate the College Calendar, supervisions, and organise meetings and events for students and fellows. Externally, they oversee events such as summer schools, weddings, meetings, and dinners. Additionally, the Accommodation Office is responsible for managing all aspects of undergraduate student accommodation, including the allocation of rooms for freshers, overseeing the fourth-year allocation process, and administering the ballot and exeat procedures.

This position is ideal for someone with strong administrative skills, excellent customer service, and event coordination experience. The candidate should be confident managing multiple tasks, liaising with clients and departments, with a high attention to detail. A flexible, proactive approach and the ability to thrive in a collaborative College environment are essential.

Gate Porter

Full Time (40 hours)

Salary: £31,214 to £34,108 p.a. depending on experience (inclusive of unsociable hours)

Emmanuel College is seeking to appoint a Gate Porter within the busy and diverse team working within the Porters Lodge.

The Porter’s Lodge is often the first point of contact for all uses of the College, and we pride ourselves in being a warm and welcoming environment to all that use the College. The primary role of the Gate Porter is the safety and wellbeing all College members, guests and visitors. The responsibilities include student wellbeing and safety, dealing with general enquiries, distribution of post, fire safety and also the security of the College. We are looking for someone who has excellent customer service and communication skills along with the ability to deal effectively with a wide range of people and complete a variety of tasks in a helpful, calm and flexible manner.

The role of Porter is a varied role and covers a wide variety of duties across the College. You will work as part of a friendly and welcoming team in this front of house role. The Porters’ Lodge is open 24/7 and there is a shift system in operation. Shifts will normally be 8-hours and consists of day, evening or night shifts according to a rota and include working at weekends or on Bank holidays, normally working with at least one other team member. Average working hours will be 40 hours per week.

Previous Porters lodge experience is useful but not essential as training will be provided.

Outreach & Widening Participation Co-ordinator

Full time (36.67 hours per week), permanent position.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Thanks to generous donations to our ongoing Emma Enables project, Emmanuel College is seeking to appoint a committed and energetic individual with experience and understanding of widening participation in Higher Education to the role of Outreach and Widening Participation Co-ordinator. The Co-ordinator assists the Admissions Team with the ongoing development of the College’s widening participation, outreach and recruitment strategy, manages the College’s Schools Liaison Officer, and works with them on the implementation of the College’s strategy.

The Outreach and Widening Participation Co-ordinator  is based in Emmanuel College, but the role will require travel throughout the College’s link areas of Sheffield and Essex (https://www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/area-links) and include periods of overnight stay and out-of-hours work for both in person and online events. Time off in lieu is awarded for work outside core hours. This is a full time (36 hours 40 minutes per week), permanent position.

The post-holder is responsible in the first instance to the Senior Tutor as line manager for operational purposes. They will also work closely with the rest of the Admissions team, namely the Admissions Tutors and the Admissions Office.

Philanthropy Officer

Full Time (36 hours 40 minutes)

Salary: £41,561 - £43,691 per annum depending on experience

The College is introducing a new role to expand its fundraising and development initiatives. The Philanthropy Officer will be instrumental in cultivating and managing relationships with prospective and existing donors capable of making significant annual contributions. Working closely with the Development Director and Head of Development, the post-holder will contribute to the execution of our current Development Strategy, aiming to increase philanthropic support and engagement.

The Development Office supports the College in its charitable purpose by building and maintaining a supportive, lifelong, two-way relationship with Members (alumni), and engaging the community of members and friends to contribute their time, expertise and philanthropy. Between 2015 and 2022, the Development Office raised £38m in new philanthropic income through the ‘Emma Enables’ campaign.  This was the college’s most successful campaign ever and saw a significant uplift in philanthropy across major, regular, and legacy giving.  This is a new post as we look to build on this momentum in planning the next campaign.

Schools Liaison Officer

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Emmanuel College is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic recent graduate with strong communications skills to work on school’s liaison, outreach and undergraduate recruitment to the College.

The role of Schools Liaison Officer (SLO) requires extensive travel throughout the link areas of Sheffield and Essex (https://www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/area-links), including periods of overnight stay; and out-of-hours work for both in-person and online events, including managing residential events in College.

The post-holder will be responsible in the first instance to the College’s Outreach and Widening Participation Co-ordinator as line manager; both the Widening Participation Co-ordinator and the SLO report to the Senior Tutor.  They will also work closely with the rest of the Admissions team, namely, the Senior Tutor, Admissions Officer, and the four Admissions Tutors. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of a University Collegiate system and be committed to widening participation in higher education. This is a full time (36 hours 40 minutes), fixed term position for up to 2 years.
